A new, NUC-Less of the Compact Eye™, ultra compact thermal imager , very low powered is now available. It is based on a state-of-the-art 384 x 288, uncooled ASi 8-14µ micro bolometer sensor with a 25-micron pitch.
Shutterless technology permits I allows uncooled IR engines and cameras to operate endlessly without the need for a mechanical shutter for NUC (Non Uniformity Correction) operations. By eliminating the need for a shutter, these engines are continuously I constantly on-line I working , do not freeze the picture } – essential I critical to applications such as missile heads and missile warning systems and were noise needs to be minimised. Shutterless engines are also smaller and lighter than conventional engines, operate silently, are able to provide quality image data quicker , consume less power, possess a lower current draw, and have better MTBF. The engine is tuned to long wave infrared, 8-14μm, with less than 0.060°c sensitivity. The unit is available with or without NUC shutter or as an open frame camera. It includes powerful proprietary algorithms that have been fully tested and proven effectual in difficult viewing situations ensuring good visuals in the most testing environmental conditions. The built in anti-blooming system prevents image flare removing loss of image data. Electronic zoom of x2 and x4 enables close up images of areas of interest; user can define the ROI. A high resolution graphics overlay enables user to add features to the screen display. Features are controlled via an on screen display. The imager can store up to 50 snap shot images for further analysis at a later time. The camera offers standard video outputs but can be supplied with a digital interface via the USB or LVDS interfaces. An optional remote focus and field of view can be controlled via the communications interface.
With its night vision capabilities the COMPACT EYE™ OEM thermal imager engine is the ultimate safety I security solution , airport perimeters and other sensitive sites. In the industrial and safety markets, the COMPACT EYE™ infrared thermal engine can be integrated into predictive maintenance applications and fire detection systems. Thermal camera integrators will find the COMPACT EYE™ the perfect solution when space, weight and power are the critical factors.

Excessive heat damages electronics. Monitoring the temperature of your CPU and other computer components can help you keep them running at their optimum performance .
Why CPU Temperature has increased
When the first affordable computers were offered to the general public in the early eighties , system engineers and designers took in consideration what heat was emitted by system components and ensured their case and cooling designs handled the appropriate amount of heat so system damage or instability was a rare occurance . Most peripherals were external, so they didn’t really add heat issues to the base system, and those that were internal were low power, and low bandwidth technologies. This was acceptable to the public at the time, since not many people felt the need to add to their PCs .
In the late 90’s , the temperature bubble burst. Heat was increasing by leaps and bounds in newer systems that were far more complex than their predecessors.
Monitoring CPU Temperature
Heat sensors are generally added to systems that are most prone to getting heated up. For example, most CPUs, video cards, and hard drives will have heat sensors. Often times you can monitor the temperature of your hardware in the BIOS. However, it is usually helpful to be able to see the temperatures when you are in Windows. For this, you can download 3rd party software such as
Motherboard:
- PC Wizard 2005
- MBM 5
- SpeedFan (which can be downloaded from http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php )
- Intel Active Monitor
- Hmonitor
- Everest Home Edition
CPU:
- PC Wizard 2005
- MBM 5
- SpeedFan (now has 64-bit support) (which can be downloaded from http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php )
- Intel Active Monitor
- Hmonitor
- Everest Home Edition
Case:
- PC Wizard 2005
- MBM 5
- SpeedFan (which can be downloaded from http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php )
- Everest Home Edition (labeled as AUX)
Video Card:
- SpeedFan (which can be downloaded from http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php )
- built in nvidia card
- built in ATI card
The easiest and cheapest thing to do is to make sure that your computer case is clean and organised . Making sure that all fans are clean and running well can solve many overheating problems and can lower temperatures even if you don’t have an overheating problem. Another easy tip is to turn off the PC when it is not in use . This can prevent overheating when you are not around to monitor the computer . There are many cooling techniques that are used besides the ones that the system comes inherently with. You can add fans to the computer case to increase airflow. You can also place the computer in a cooler part of your house. If you still need more cooling power, you can upgrade your PC case to a case which is better designed for cooling. Last, you can upgrade your CPU fan and heatsink to a bigger and more powerful cooler.
The system temperature monitoring tools included with Windows XP will probably meet most of your needs. But I find that they have two limitations. First, they can’t monitor certain low-level hardware functions like processor temperature or whether the chip fan is functioning properly. Monitoring such features can help you anticipate some hardware failures before they arise . And second, Windows Vista system temperature monitoring features aren’t tightly integrated with each other. So if you want a fully integrated health monitoring and reporting tool, you may want to look at what 3rd -party vendors provide in this area.
Check out what other vendors offer in this area. For example, if your motherboard is from Intel, you can install the Intel Active Monitor and view your processor temperature, fan speed, and other useful information in real time. If you have a different motherboard, you may be able to find a similar utility for it. Or it may have been included on a CD when you bought your system. And there may already be a similar tool installed if you purchased an OEM system.

Winsor Pilates
While researching for exercise programs, I found this wonderful article that provides some excellent information about Winsor Pilates. It discusses the development of the program as well as explaining the moves in great detail.
If you turn on the television after midnight you’ll notice that the infomercials for diets, fitness equipment and exercise tapes are becoming more and more popular. Do any of these systems really deliver what they promise?
Winsor Pilates is one of the many exercise systems advertised through infomercials, and one of the biggest sellers. With celebrity endorsements from the likes of Daisy Fuentes and Madonna, it’s hard to resist the infomercial and not pick up the phone.
Pilates was developed as a rehabilitative program for injured dancers by Joseph Pilates. The basic premise is that by strengthening the core muscles and increasing flexibility the body will become toned and more coordinated. Dancers have used the system for years, and it is now catching on with the rest of the fitness community. Most users report increased flexibility, coordination, a lengthening of muscles and a much stronger “core”.
The floor exercises featured in the tapes all work together to strengthen the abdominal muscles and back, called the “core” in this system. Each movement involves these important muscle groups, and the results are fantastic. Not only do the abdominal muscles become more toned, but the entire midsection is strengthened. The results are less likelihood of injury and increased performance in other fitness activities. A stronger back is a less painful back. The pilates moves are also good for toning the legs and buttocks.
The moves are slow and deliberate, requiring not only physical exertion but concentration as well. Ensuring that you are performing the moves correctly actively involves the mind, causing us to focus on the movements of our bodies. This inevitably reduces stress. In this way, pilates is similar to yoga. Many users report feeling refreshed and relaxed after the workout, not tired.
Mari Winsor’s presentation of the pilates system is excellent. She is careful to explain each move in great detail so that the beginner can follow along and do the movements in proper form. Most beginners will be discouraged after their first session, but after the second or third the movements will not seem so difficult.
The exercises are useful and effective for core strengthening. You won’t see pounds just melt away, however, unless you combine the workouts with a sensible eating plan. Mari includes one for your reference, but you can use this system with the weight loss program you’re already on to help accelerate results.
Of course, you may want to check with your doctor before starting any exercise program. However, Winsor Pilates is non-aerobic but effective in toning and strengthening the core of your body and may help you lose inches as well. Winsor Pilates is well worth a try.
